a dedication to my hero

It has been a little while since I have updated my blog and i just have not really been able to think of words to put down. I flew back from NJ on Sunday evening to a week of relaxed climbing before the World Cup in Vail, CO. Prior to my departure my dad was admitted into the hospital due to complications from his non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He had been fighting this for quite a few years and as i left i just was under the assumption he was going to get better and be back in no time to his good ol' self. The week went by and by Friday I had to try my best to turn all of my attention to concentrating on doing my best in the competition as i know that what he would have wanted me to do. I barely made it to semi finals and knew that i would have my work cut out for me on Saturday. Fortunately Saturday morning i climbed well and qualified for finals in 1st place. During the final round i had a hard time keeping my concentration and fell quite a bunch which slipped me back to 4th place where i finished the comp.

As soon as i was done competition i spoke with my mom who told me it was necessary to make my way home. I booked a flight for early the next morning. I unfortunately did not make it home in time and lost my absolute best friend that Sunday morning.

I wanted to write a blog in his dedication as he is the one who was always on top of me to make sure i updated. Since he was back in NJ and i was traveling the world this as well as our daily phone conversations was his way of seeing all the amazing things that i was up to. He definitely was my number one fan since i first put on a pair of climbing shoes at the young age of 11. He was by far the strongest person i have ever met and fought a really hard fight for many years. He has and always will be the person in life that i look up to most of all. I will definitely cherish the memories we have had together and push forward as i know he would want me to.

Paul, I am so sorry for your loss. I met you and your father briefly five or six years ago at Squamish, and I thought that it was really cool to see a dad so dedicated to his son's climbing. You and your family are in my thoughts.

dang, paul... i can't even imagine how you feel. it seems that the pain of losing a parent so young is one of the hardest things to handle. i'm very sorry for you and your family. it is great that he was so supportive of you and that you were so close with him... that's something very special in the world today and it's great that he has had such a profound effect on your life, the man that you are, and that man that you will become.

I am very sorry for the loss to you and your family. I lost my dad to leukemia when I was about your age. I wasn't even a climber then, yet he's the one who planted the seed, pointing out a crack to me during a backpack trip and telling me, "There are people who can climb rocks like this by putting their hands in these cracks and squeezing." That one statement was what ultimately made me a passionate, lifetime climber.

Your dad got to see you become one of the best climbers in the world. And by reading this blog, he also saw that you have positively influenced and inspired a lot of people --people like me whom you don't know and likely will never meet.

Your achievements, past and future, will always honor your father.

Paul,
I was sorry to hear about your father and I wanted to send my condolences. I remember you and your parents coming into VE when you were in your beginning stages of climbing(I was the person working the counter),it has been fun to watch you grow up with the love of the outdoors. Your parents were so caring and supportive to you, and were a pleasure to know. I wish you, your mother and any extended family well.Always remember to celebrate the memory of your father, he was such a wonderful and positive person.

Hey paul
Your father was an i9nspiration for me . His quiet supportive presence while we were all thrashing away in the berkshire hills gave me an example of what I could achieve with my own daughter. His bond with you was an inspiration.I'm sad for you and your family. Be well tim

Hey Paul,

Just wanted to say I am really sorry to hear about your Dad.

I lost my mom to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma five years ago. She is the reason I am the person I am today, at least the good parts!

I have seen you at OR and some comps, but don't think we have ever met. Here is a link to an image of you I shot at the comp in SLC. My flash wasn't working well by the time the men's final rolled around, so the image isn't the best but feel free to download and use it if you want.

Cheers

Dave

I'm the sort of hombre who loves to try recent things. Presently I am fabricating my personalized solar panels. I'm managing it all by myself without the assistance of my staff. I am utilizing the net as the only path to acheive that. I encountered a really amazing site that explains how to contruct pv panels and wind generators. The internet site explains all the steps required to solar panel construction.

I am not really sure bout how correct the info given there iz. If some people over here who have experience with these things can have a look and give your feedback in the thread it will be great and I would extremely appreciate it, because I truly lav solar panel construction.
